FRC’s 18th Annual FAMILY PICNIC was a great success!

On Saturday, June 5, FRC hosted our 18th annual family picnic at Busse Woods South in Elk Grove Village. The weather report predicted scattered showers, but the rain never arrived and instead we enjoyed lots of sunshine and comfortable breezes.  More than 400 people attended the event, yet and it never seemed crowded or particularly noisy.  Even the cicadas cooperated to make it a perfect afternoon.  Kids bounced in inflated castles, had their faces painted, rode ponies, fed and held animals in the petting zoo, took part in three legged races and water balloon games, visited with Clifford and filled their tummies with slushees and cotton candy.  The adults enjoyed catching up with old friends and re-connecting with FRC staff, while sampling the traditional picnic fare of hot dogs, hamburgers, brats and summer salads. A great time was had by all - and we are already making plans for next year's event!

Group 50 have receieved their referrals from China!

On June 6th eight delighted families received referrals from the China Center for Adoption Affairs. All the girls are from the Fuzhou Social Welfare Institute in Jiangxi Province and families expect

to travel to China and meet their daughters later this summer. FRC has facilitated more than 400 adoptions from China since the program began in 1995.

Let us Speak at YOUR Company

Over the years FRC staff have conducted Adoption Information meetings during “lunch and learn” sessions at both large and small corporations. We regularly speak at Resolve and Fertility Centers of Illinois. We would be happy to talk with you about speaking at   your office, church or community organization! This would not be an FRC marketing event, it would provide general information about adoption and specifics on both domestic and international adoption processes and procedures. For more information call Jane Turner or Ben Friedman at (773) 334-2300 or e-mail us at

reception@f-r-c.org.

Newsletters - Family Resource Center distributes a newsletter called small steps.

Voices for Adoption – FRC wants to spread the word about who we are and what we do. We

hope to create a team of volunteers who go to local schools, doctor’s offices,  etc. and provide

them with our adoption information and material. If you would be willing to take a few FRC

poster boards (actual size is 12” X 18”) to locations where potential birth mothers might be –

you would be making a huge contribution to our outreach efforts.  We want more women

facing an unplanned pregnancy to know that adoption is an option, and that Family Resource Center is ready, willing and waiting to help. For more information on how to volunteer, please contact Sue Nolan at snowlan@f-r-c.org or call her at (309) 361-3509.

Grandparents for FRC – At FRC we are keenly aware that grandparents play an important role

the lives of their children and grandchildren. In December of 2001 we introduced a program to recognize and honor the contribution that grandparents make to their families. Our Grandparents

for FRC program features social events, such as a Valentines Day Coffee or our recent Sunday afternoon High Tea. For more information about our Grandparents for FRC program, contact us today
